Who is Max the Phone Guardian?

Max is a powerful and nimble dog, with a protective nature. He'll guard your internet connection on networks you don't trust so you're better protected, just keep him by your side!

What is Phone Guardian?

Phone Guardian helps protect your data usage by using VPN (Virtual Private Network) technology to scan your internet traffic for unprotected data. If it detects unencrypted data while you’re connected to an untrusted WiFi network, it will automatically encrypt that traffic to increase your level of protection.

Note that, unlike traditional VPN services, Phone Guardian does not hide your IP address or physical location. While traditional VPN services usually cost around $5 or $10 per month, Phone Guardian is completely free.

Why is Phone Guardian completely free?

Our goal is to provide you with a completely free and simple security service without intrusive ads, subscription fees, or in-app purchases. To keep this service free and high-quality, we provide market trend research by pooling your usage trends with that of thousands of other users. These usage trend insights help app developers create better apps.

Why do I need a VPN configuration?

This configuration helps Phone Guardian inspect your internet traffic for unprotected data, and encrypt such data by routing it through our secure servers.

Why is Max not stopping trackers anymore?

We were forced to remove the tracker blocker feature to be in line with the Apple App Store guidelines, which does not allow us to block trackers or ads using a VPN. We will continue to explore our options and remain committed to add more security features to our app.

Fortunately, Max is still protecting your privacy while you surf the internet.

Why do I need to enter a passcode when installing the VPN configuration?

Apple requires you to enter your passcode when installing any VPN configuration.

What is my passcode?

It is the same code you use to unlock your device.

How can I contact Phone Guardian?

If you experience any issues or want to share feedback, please contact us at support@phoneguardianapp.com or through the Phone Guardian app. To send us a message through the app, simply open up your menu and press "Send us an email". We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Why can’t I start Phone Guardian’s protection?

If you experience connection issues, please try one or more of the following:

  • Ensure you're running the latest version of Phone Guardian.
  • In your System Settings, turn ON Airplane Mode for at least 5 seconds, and then turn it back OFF. Wait one minute, and then try connecting to Phone Guardian again.
  • Restart your device, open the Phone Guardian app, and try reconnecting.
